Turn your ordinary tealight candles into AWESOME candles with a purpose!
Use your essential oils to create candles that repel bugs such as mosquitoes, serve as an air cleanser for odor or simply to provide an extra mood enhance effect. Think happy thoughts!
Oviously the best way to get essential oils into the air is to diffuse them and I love my diffuser but sometimes the diffuser is busy in another room OR you are outside with no plugs!
Today I want to show you this rather simple idea to take those tealights you bought and turn them into super tealights! Below is a quick video I made to give you an idea of how to melt and prepare the candles.
A few notes of caution. Wax can catch alight. Always use the double boil method. One pot with boiling water brought down to a simmer with another pot inside it for the wax. Always be watching your wax. Never leave it unattended.
DIY Scented Tealight Candles Video:
Remove the wicks from the candles as demonstrated in the video. Use the double boil method to melt your wax down. Add the amount of drops you would like to the bottom of your tealight container. I have used 20 drops in mine.
Pour the wax on top of the essential oils and mix with a toothpick. Add the wick. Between making candles return the pot to the hot water to keep the wax melted.
I opened a window to help with the stronger smell of the essential oils and to cool down the wax as soon as possible. Keep stirring the wax until it starts clumping. There you have it, gorgeous scented candle ready for use!
Essential oils to use:
Mosquito repellent: Use 20-30 drops of either Lavender Essential oil or the blend Purification
Odour Remover: Use 20-30 drops of the blend Thieves. This is also known to kill some germy things in the air from sniffling guests / kids. OR Use 15 drops of the blend Purification along with 15 drops Lemon Essential Oil.
Mood Enhancer: Use 20-30 drops of the blend Joy. (This is also great for a romantic atmosphere!) Also try out Frankincense Essential Oil.
Concentration & Focus: Use 20-30 drop of Peppermint or Lemon Essential Oil.
Stress Melter: Use 20-30 drops of the blend Stress Away or Lavender Essential Oil. Don’t forget the nice soak in the tub that would pair well with this!
All the above mentioned Essential Oils are available in the Starter Kit. Read more here and claim yours today!
