Using a bunch of stuff that is laying around in your crafts bin is always a great idea which in my experience always leads to creative free play with the kids.
I often give the kids a bunch of materials just to see what they would come up with.
Today I went with some easter themed stickers. Stickers are always a good idea in my book as they lead to so many fine motor skill practice opportunities. 😉
Supplies for this Free Play Adventure
- paper
- pencils / markers / crayons
- easter themed stickers
Set out the supplies and let the kids create!

The one child decided to trace the stickers without peeling them. My other child sorted himself a bunch of stickers and specific crayons for his art work.
Using stickers is an excellent fine motor skills idea as well. Just look at this peeling action!!
Ahh I love the imagination. Once the head of the bunny was down on his paper he drew it a body.
After which he drew a few easter egg baskets and added an egg to each. As you can see below we need some number work for wrong way around numbers! 🙂
I love that free play like this is not about the end result. It is all about the process and coming up with new expressive ways to use the materials on hand.
This activity can be altered to any theme by just changing out the materials. Try adding some glitter pens next time. 😉
