Wow, the month is flying by and we still have to put up our tree! I can’t wait to decorate it with all the DIY Christmas ornaments we have been making the last few weeks.
I thought long about this ornament as I really wanted some angels on the tree. First I thought egg cartons then paper muffin cups, but feathers really pulled at me and I must say I am rather happy with how it turned out!
Kid made AND easy Christmas ornaments!
Our first making of the feather and pipe cleaner angels didn’t have wings, but after sleeping on it we came back to make some more with wings.
To make Feather & Pipe Cleaner Angels you will need:
- 2 or 3 Feathers
- 3 pipe cleaners (1 body, 1 wings, half for a halo)
- A bead, we used some of the plastic ones, but a wooden one would look beautiful!
- Sharpie for drawning a face
- String to hang
First gather your items and a willing kid, in my case my 4 year old and a very curious 18 month old!
Fold your first pipe cleaner in half and slide on the bead for the head. Twist the lower end to resemble arms.
Use another pipe cleaner, fold in half and loop to shape wings. Cut the last pipe cleaner in half and make a halo by twisting on your finger and folding the ends over the main halo to secure. Attach a hanging string in the loop of the pipe cleaner above the head.
Slide the halo over the hanging string to rest upon the bead head. Attach the wings to the body.
Now take 2 or 3 feathers (that’s as much as we could fit!) and stick then in between the bead hole and pipe cleaner. Trim any long ends that stick out the top if you need to.
Draw a cute little face on.
We made many more in different colors, but I think the pink one looks fabulous and is my favorite!
I just love easy and oh so pretty Christmas ornaments!
