Popsicle sticks are an absolute must have supply in our craft items. We have them in several different sizes, and even some pre-colored, ready to turn into fun art projects. This time we used them along with some patterned paper to create Popsicle Stick Ornament Presents.
Popsicle Stick Ornament Presents
Our Popsicle Stick Ornaments are easy and fun for everyone from preschoolers to adults to make.
You will need:
- popsicle sticks
- patterned paper
- ribbon or twine
- craft glue/ hot glue
To begin with to create a present shape we simply glued 4 popsicle sticks together in a square shape. I used hot glue to fix mine together so they would be ready quicker. If your want your child to have more hands on activity with this project you can let them glue it themselves with school glue and allow to dry.
Place your square on the patterned paper and trace the shape with a pencil.
Cut the patterned paper slightly smaller than the frame you made with your popsicle stick square. Cutting is a great fine motor activity to work into fun activities with your child.
Glue the paper to the back of the popsicle stick square with the print showing.
Add a ribbon to the top of your present, use ribbon or twine from your craft stash to create a bow, secure it with glue.
Flip your present over and create a hanger on the back by gluing a loop of ribbon or twine.
Once your glue is dry you can hang your popsicle stick ornaments all over your tree, hang them on string to create a banner for your mantle, or use as festive present toppers.
