This week we are full of foil activities and crafts!
A few months ago I purchased some contact paper to repair a few of the kids well used books but soon discovered (thanks to my fellow kid bloggers) that contact paper can be used in play as well!
With this in mind I kept the scrap bits of foil from our swimming fish mobile as well as the crumpled bits from the kids drawing on foil.
To setup this fun little exploration activity you will need.
- Contact paper.
- Something to hold down the paper. (duct tape in our case)
- Materials to stick on the contact paper, I used left over foil and shredded plastic bags.
(supervise the younger kids when using materials that are small and could pose a choking risk)
Setup your contact paper and tape down so the sticky side is facing upwards. Notice my very curious helpers.
Remove the backing of the contact paper to reveal the sticky plastic. My 3 year old went right in and started “sticking” his hands on it, feeling what it was like.
Next, give the kids the basket and let them stick stuff!
I love this activity as all 3 of the kids got something out of it! My one year old kept picking up the bits that fell on the floor and re-sticking them, 3 year old was more interested in the stickiness and my 4 year old was dishing out all the materials for everyone and then rearranging.
We of course had to checkout our work of art in the window! The plastic was see though where as the foil caught the light. My preschooler also enjoyed removing the items from the contact paper and the noise it made when he did so!

Very fun!! We love using contact paper for making easy “stained glass” projects as well as for laminating cards or items. Thank you for sharing at Sharing Saturday!
