Today I am rather excited to share our little under the sea adventure! We are taking part in the A-Z of pretend play hosted by Crafty Kids at Home.
This activity was so tempting for an extended activity beyond pretend play that I made an extra printable to accommodate it.
Print out your under the sea printable, located at the bottom of this post. You will notice that there are 2 pages of the same thing EXCEPT they are mirrored. This is for printing on both sides of your paper.
Print the first page, flip it over and print the second page. It very much depends on the printer if these will line up so don’t be surprised if they don’t line up perfectly. Cut a little extra white to allow any overlaps. (mine weren’t a perfect either)
Laminate
I really love not having a blank backing on these. Use blue rice (I added a bit of turquoise rice too!) to represent the ocean. Learn how to dye rice here.
Layout the under the sea scene in a little plastic dish and have fun! We told a story of the fish that swam and that dolphin sure can jump! The starfish hid away from us. 😉
We then buried the ocean life under the rice and got the i spy printout out with our dry erase pen. We then went hunting for the items on our list!
Once you find the creatures circle them!
Store your game in a sealable plastic bag and did you that you can even play I spy with the items still IN the bag? This is great for those rice messer kids.
Love it? PIN it! (it’s a great way to save for later)
