Ahh, a little heart sensory tub. My toddler loves to investigate things and sensory tubs are fast turning out to be the most popular.
This sensory tub although very shallow was a hit.
In this heart sensory tub I have:
- Color rice in shades of red and pink (learn how to make color rice)
- Sparkly pom poms
- Clear plastic rocks
- Plastic hearts in red, pink and purple
- Foam hearts in red, pink and purple in various sizes
We also added some cups for good measure 😉 My toddler loved to lift the items high up and drop them back into the tub watching them fall.
Some “tea” was had with the pom poms after feeling them with their little soft spikes.
Just look at those little pom pom spikes!
For toddlers at this age (mine is 20 months) they love to pack things in bags and stick things in holes. I find this a great opportunity to encourage packing away!

Hello my name is Robyn, I work in a nursery with 2-5 year olds and we have found that some of your ideas are really interesting and they are really useful. we have started using the caterpillar counting pom-poms which has made a big difference with the children. I would like to say a big thank you for your amazing ideas and I do hope you don’t mind me copying some of your things for where I work, it’s just that because the nursery I work with has a small budget most of your ideas are just right and very useful for us to use with them and to send home so thank you again 🙂
