This weekend was a wonderful calm and happy weekend. On Sunday my house was still neat-ish which is not usually the case because with 3 kids they are able to really “unpack” everything in sight usually with in a few minutes.
Weekends I do minimum cleaning, a mom just has to take a break sometimes.
Time for a little homemade paint exploring!
I purchased 2 squeeze bottles the previous week and now was the perfect time to use them. I mixed up some easy homemade paint, filled the squeeze bottles and headed over to the craft table.
To make homemade paint you will need:
- 1 cup Flour
- Food Coloring (I used red, blue, green and yellow)
- 3/4 cup Water
- Containers to mix in / Squeeze Bottles
Adjust the water ratio as you like for the consistency of the paint. We use a variation in Gooey Color Paint Exploring. I mixed up the flour and water then split it into 4 containers to mix in the coloring. I only had 2 squeeze bottles so added the red and blue into them and the yellow and green I left in 2 bowls for hand printing and homemade finger painting.
The kids craft table is covered with a plastic sheet taped down on the sides with duct-tape to secure it. The craft table itself is kid height.
Once the paints were placed on the table much fun was had. First they made hand prints on a sheet of paper, then smeared everything.
The squeeze bottles were discovered shortly after and I removed the paper from the table so that the boys could each use a bottle to make some paint art on the plastic cover of the table.
My one year old moved around the table smearing all the paint she could reach and smearing the little remaining paint in the bowls. Her big brother came to the rescue with his squeeze bottle for a refill.
I just love how the colors mixed into gorgeous paint art! The 3 year old was more shaking his bottle so little drops came out and mixed with the more aimed squeezes of my 4 year old’s art.
This little adventure last over an hour and once the table was completely covered in homemade paint squeezes all 3 kids headed off to their next adventure in a bubble bath!
Clean up went fast with a bucket of warm soapy water and a sponge. Love plastic covers! I took the squeeze bottles up to the bath (daddy was watching them) to let the kids clean them with bath time water play.
Don’t be afraid of mess 😉

Recommendation for a kid height craft table, or did you DIY? If so, how did you do it? 🙂

It is a DIY table. They usually sell those kiddy plastic tables. we just measured that and made it a tiny bit taller so that kids legs would go under it when sitting on the chairs.

What an amazing art! These kids are really very talented. Having fun with colors and at the same time making an artistic paint. I just love it…

Such a fun idea! And your kids seem to be having tons of fun! I could only think of one place where I’d do that – up on our roof (cause in the house the paint will be all over hah!)
