Printable Kids Screen Time Rules & Punch Card
Let me step back a few steps, though. I am not here to tell you how much screen time is too much, what type of screen time is best or anything else regarding screen time. You are the parent and the fact that you are reading this means that you are a good parent. You can make the screen time decisions that are best for your family! This set is to help you once you’ve made those rules, to help encourage children to take care of their responsibilities first and then play.
If you need help reducing screen time, check out this post.
In our home, I have set the rules that certain tasks need to be completed before kids screen time can happen.
Every morning, I encourage my children to start the day by brushing their teeth & hair, getting dressed, making their bed and eating breakfast. Once these are done, they can continue their day by earning screen time. I have included reading a book, because this is obviously important. I also included a few chores including putting away clean laundry, dusting furniture, taking out the trash and wiping down counters. This is encouraging them to be helpful in our home while giving them the incentive of screen time for their contribution. Once they have completed those tasks, they can get 30 minutes of screen time.
Once these tasks are all completed, they can also get a punch on their punch card. There are 10 spaces for punches. Once the card is full, they can earn another incentive. This could be more screen time, a trip for ice cream, a new book, etc. That choice is up to you.
We have also included a blank PDF so that you can add in whichever tasks or chores you would like your child to complete!

How to use screen time cards
Preparing this set was super easy. There are a few options that I thought of to incorporate these printables into your home in the best way for your family.
Laminator
Dry Erase Markers
Dry Erase Pouch
Hole Punch
I started out by printing the rules and the punch cards. Obviously the rules need to be displayed in a location that children will be able to see them every day. I prefer if the rules are laminated, or put into a dry erase pouch, so that kids can mark off what they have done each day. With a dry erase marker, then it can all be erased at the end of the day and can be reused forever. We hang ours on the fridge, but you could easily hang clip boards on the wall too.
We laminated the punch cards too. This way dry erase markers can just mark off each circle when it is complete. If your children will respond better to actually punching the cards, a hole punch is a great way!
This set is a great place to start helping children understand not only the limit of screen time but responsibility as well. Kids screen time can happen and so can responsibilities!
