LEGO Easter Eggs

Lego has been my 8 year olds favorite play item for some time now and with Easter coming up I had a great idea to put some LEGO into his easter eggs this year making lego easter eggs!

The idea is super simple and I have a few modification for when parts are just a bit too big to add to the eggs. Keep reading.

 

Easter Egg Fun With LEGOs

The first thing I do is establish how many kids we are having at our Easter egg hunt and then decide on how many eggs each child is going to get.

We had 8 kids at this egg hunt. (4 of my own and a friends 4 kids) I then color coded the easter egg hunt and because we didn’t have that many colors I used a sharpie to draw patterns on same color eggs to distinguish them.

For this lego easter egg hunt, i decided each kid would get 5 eggs to hunt down.

Having the eggs color coded adds in the extra element of only collecting your own color eggs. The kids even began calling their siblings and friends over when they found each other’s colors. Great fun and team work!

Things you will need for your LEGO Easter Egg Hunt:

• plastic eggs
• small packs of Lego builds (these are our picks for builds under $10 and $20)
• small brown paper bags
• sharpie
• excellent hiding places 😉

Ok, so sometimes the parts in the bags don’t fit into the easter eggs. I came up with a great solution for this!

Have a bunch of brown bags with numbers on them and a corresponding number on a little slip of paper. Then add in the parts that don’t fit into the brown bag and then add the paper number into the egg. Then once everyone has collected their eggs they bring the slips of paper and collect their extra parts.

 

I parceled each lego bag over 3 eggs to make 3 eggciting lego easter eggs!

Tip: Add parts that are larger to the eggs so that if the kids open the eggs while out in the yard the smaller bits won’t get lost. Add all those tiny parts to the paper bag.

Close up the eggs and get ready to hide them!

I didn’t tell the boys that I had done lego easter eggs! It was a wonderful surprise for them!

Tip: encourage kids to collect all eggs first them only open them!

I supplied the boys with a tray and they happily emptied out their eggs to start building their mini builds.

LEGO easter eggs were a HIT!! woohoo!
