Flower Crossword Puzzle
The first nature game is a crossword puzzle. In this activity, kids will look at the questions or clues. There are across and then down, each one is numbered. The direction and number determines which line the answer should be written on. So for instance, 1 Down, find the number 1 and then go down. Count the number of boxes, this tells you how many letters are in the word. Read the clue and figure out the answer. Some of the clues include:
– solid materials that form Earth’s surface
– egg-laying vertebrate with feathers, a beak and wings

Word searches are not just fun, they are also beneficial. The word bank of word searches can help children develop word recognition and review vocabulary. To make it easier for younger children you can just focus on finding the shorter words if you’d like.
Word Searches can also help assist in learning context clues. Typically, you start with the first letter of the word. Find that and then move to the next letter, if it continues you found the word. If not, you must keep searching.
Birds Nest Maze
The final activity in this Nature Games set is a birds nest maze. This is a classic brain puzzle, too. A maze. Children can start at the bird, make their way through until they get to the nest. The purpose is to look ahead and try to find the route that does not have any dead ends. If they reach a dead end, they can backtrack, or start from the beginning. Up to them, whichever helps the most.
Mazes are so beneficial. They help strengthen cognitive skills and work by exercising the brain. While solving them, it makes kids think critically, reason and remember.
