This months recycled challenge is to use take-out containers. Here in Ecuador most places will use styrofoam plates or those other burger sized styrofoam holders.
We used our bit of styrofoam and made 4 sail boats for the kids to play with in the bath one evening. Super simple and tons of fun in the bath too!
You will need:
- A Styrofoam plate or large holder
- some craft foam
- tooth picks (these are jumbo ones)
Cut out a base for your sail boat.
Cut a square of craft foam and then half it again to get 2 sails like below.
Put your tooth pick through the sail and let it bulge a bit as shown below.
Stick the other end of the tooth pick into your base Styrofoam. This can stick out a bit as it will be in the water.
Take it to the tub! My kids had fun with their sail boats and “modesty bubbles” I added to take the pictures of these sail boats. AND since they were particularly dirty kids the added time in the bath to play with the sail boats helped!
Pin this quick idea for later!
