Woohoo! It is Friday and that means it is time for some fine motor skill inspiration! For the next few weeks I am going to be putting together my first ever quiet book and it is NO sew too!
My just turned 5 year old loves rainbows and my almost 2 year old is just basically fascinated by anything these days. So I thought this one a good choice for our 2nd page in the fine motor skills quiet book!
To make this rainbow puzzle felt page you will need:
- Felt in rainbow colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink
- Felt in white for the optional clouds
- Felt page, I used black A4 felt here
- Velcro dots or plain velcro and glue
- My printable rainbow for easy cutting out. You can download the rainbow here.
I used one of the kids glue sticks to stick the paper to the felt so I could cut it out. It sticks enough that it doesn’t move when cutting and peels off extremely easy without leaving any glue marks.
Once you have cut out the rainbow fit it onto your page and trim where needed.
Because the rainbow strips are so thin this makes a great fine motor activity for either an older toddler or preschooler who is learning about the rainbow.
This is where the velcro come in. It holds the felt in place while in the book as well as proves a guide line for the kids to position their rainbow felt strips when putting together the rainbow puzzle.
I cut my velcro dots in half for this job. (I had some of another brand for when I was experimenting to make the perfect velcro dot craft stick busy bag!)
I am very much pleased with this colorful creation! Now, on to the next page of our felt fine motor quiet book!
