Busy bags are my favorite kind of activity to make and to pull out to occupy the kids.
Todays busy bag is something totally different than what I usually make. This one can even double as a 2 player game!
To make this Bug Busy Bag:
- 4 Jumbo craft sticks
- Bug stickers
- Color paper or mini color post-it notes
- Glass gems
Stick 6-7 bug stickers on you jumbo craft sticks with some spacing between them.
Next stick another 4 stickers per sheet of paper. Have about 6 sheets of paper.
My stickers are randomly placed on both the jumbo craft sticks and the sheets of paper.
The concept of the game is to draw one sheet of paper at a time and search the sticks for the corresponding bug sticker. The gems are used to mark the bugs found and the kids love that when the glass gems are placed that it gives a magnifying effect.
These are also a great fine motor and pincer activity. Place the gems on the bugs and balancing on the craft stick requires some hand-eye coordination!
Keep drawing the cards until all the bugs are accounted for.
We have also used this as a 2 player game. Each player gets 2 jumbo sticks and 3 cards. First one to complete a stick wins. Also because the stickers are randomly placed player can exchange cards if their sticks do not fill up.
Make yourself a collection of bug themes busy bags!
