I just love valentines, all those hearts, pink pretty things (that so appeal to my girly side) and of course there are the chocolates! yum yum.
I decided to make a little something pretty, pink and heart like to hang in our window. This one turned out fantastic with the help of my little ones.
I originally laid out the craft for my 4 year old to do with me but my 19 month old took a big interest as well and I let her join in with her own little craft. I think the pictures speak mostly for themselves. All 10 of them! I just couldn’t help myself.
Valentines Heart Mobile
To make this valentines day mobile you will need
- Some cardboard hearts (I drew some on some scrap cardboard and cut them out)
- Glue (and something to spread it, we used a paint brush)
- Crepe Paper in the colors of choice (red, pink and white)
- Ribbon to hang your mobile
Cut up your crepe paper into strips and then smaller bits. My 19 month old could not resist a bit of sensory play. All over the table.
Smear some glue onto a section of the heart and crumple the crepe paper to give a scrunched look. continue like this, alternating the colors.
I love this color combo. So here is a close up!
On to the fine motor skills!
My 19 month old was extremely enthralled in this activity! Even after her older brother had made his heart and left the scene in search of bigger and better things.
Below a little demo by big brother on how to stick said crepe paper into the glue. Learning by watching and then trying to copy.
Oh the concentration. She ever so carefully selected those bits to stick down. This one is a little super star crafter already!
Great fine motor practice. Almost, almost got the scrunching of the crepe papers.
Oh! Some stuck to the fingers on heart 2. Yes! she loved it so, she made 2 hearts, the 2nd looked way better than the first. Fast learner. I love this picture for the discovery of the effects of glue. The expressions.
Here is our complete works! Well little miss’s 1st heart.
And last but not least the lovely valentines mobile. I didn’t take a pic from the window 🙁
