Taste Safe Fizzing Flag Sensory Play
You will need:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 T. oil ( i prefer coconut)
- gel food coloring
- vinegar
- squirt bottle
- large shallow container
- water in a spray bottle
- star silicone mold
Directions:
Combine flour, baking soda, and oil together until mixed well, get in there with your fingers and really work the oil through.
Now, divide your flour mixture up into 3 bowls. Leave your white as it is, add blue and red food coloring until your desired color is reached. You can use liquid food coloring but it wont tint as well.
In a rectangle shallow container use a piece of paper to help you create each line of the flag, leaving a smaller rectangle in the upper left corner for the blue portion.
I didn’t try to be historically accurate, I just wanted to make it obvious that its an American flag.Reserve some of your white mixture for the stars.
With your remaining white, spritz just a tiny bit of water into it, too much will activate and keep your mixture from fizzing, you want just enough to help it hold together. Press into star mold and pop into freezer for about 30 minutes.
Carefully remove stars from the mold and add to your flag.
Add measuring cups, spoons, cookie cutters, and of course a squeeze bottle of vinegar to activate your mixture.
The fizzing is irresistible to kids!
