I absolutely love when it’s the time of the year to use an apple theme in our homeschool. Apples means fall is right around the corner and fall is my favorite season! Bring on the cooler temperatures, falling leaves and delicious smelling desserts. This Printable Apple Number Tracing and Coloring activity is the perfect way to enjoy fall with your little ones.
Apple Number Tracing and Coloring
Number tracing is an important skill for a child and their overall writing capabilities. Number tracing helps children understand how to hold a pencil and how to manipulate the pencil in order to write what they are intending to write. This is a fantastic prewriting activity that all preschoolers should do.
Adding coloring to this free printable number tracing activity gives children an extra incentive to finish the activity. This is especially true for creative children.

Prepping This Activity
There are two options for prepping this number tracing printable. You can simply print and go, grab crayons, and get started.
If you are using these educational printables in a classroom or would like to be able to reuse the work sheets, you can laminate each page and use dry erase markers instead of crayons.
Here’s another counting & tracing activity.
Using This Activity
There are 5 pages total in this number tracing apple printable. Each page holds four apples, with one number in each. The numbers are written in the dot to dot printables style, so that they can easily be traced. This set covers numbers 1-20. You can use one page at a time for children that are just beginning, but alternatively use all pages for children who have more advanced skills.

An alternative idea is to have children cut out each apple after they have completed the coloring and number tracing. Get a string of some sort, or a longer strip of paper and have children glue the apples on in number order. This incorporates a different skill that wouldn’t otherwise be practiced. Number order is important for counting, 1:1 correspondence and, eventually, higher math skills.
