Tracing
Children will use this camping activities printable to practice prewriting. The goal is to get from one tent to another by following the various dotted lines. Tracing is one way that children can practice writing. This is called prewriting. Prewriting is important to help children gain the muscle strength, skills and confidence to be able to write on their own.
Similarly there is also a tracing camping words page. This, just like tracing the lines, is also strengthening important skills.
Color The Tent
Children will read the color name under each tent and color that tent according to the color identified. This is great for strengthening color recognition, and coloring inside the lines. Coloring might just seem like something good to keep your kids occupied while you set up the tent or grill the hot dogs, but it is actually helping to strengthen important skills as well.
Counting
This camping activities page is similar to an I Spy game, if you have used those before. The are various camping themed pictures spread out randomly on the page. Children will need to find and count the images. For instance, the camp fire. If children count 10, they will write 10 down on the square below the image. This is a fabulous activity to practice counting, number recognition and 1:1 correspondence.
Campers Maze
Mazes are fabulous for so many skills. Children will strengthen many skills such as prewriting, fine motor, problem solving, short term memory and more.
