Here are some of the magnificent benefits that kids can receive from the activity of coloring.
- Fine motor skills are strengthened. This is because to color, you must hold the coloring utensil and press to have the color connect with the page. Regardless of what tool you are using, fine motor skills are strengthened.
- Encourages Relaxation. Coloring can be methodical and used as a quiet activity. This is the case for not only kids but adults too. If your child needs extra quiet time in their day or if there has been one too many tantrums, coloring can help immensely.
- Concentration is strengthened with coloring. Children must concentrate to stay inside the lines, make sure they are coloring the right part of the picture with the color they choose.
- Handwriting skills are strengthened. As I have mentioned in many other posts, coloring is a prewriting tool that often gets overlooked. Children must learn how to hold a pencil to be able to write, and learning to hold a crayon or marker can be super helpful.
- Color recognition is applied. You can color and not necessarily know the names of the colors or even how to use which colors where on your picture. But with the assistance of an adult or older child, coloring can be a fun way to encourage children to learn their colors.
- Confidence is increased. This is because when coloring, they are making a masterpiece. To know that they ‘did a good job’, will help boost their confidence.
All of these printable summer coloring pages are created with preschoolers in mind. The pictures are not too intricate, so even the most beginner colorer can complete the pictures. While this is true, older children can absolutely find fun in these pictures too.
The pictures themselves are all summer themed. This includes palm trees, beach theme, sun, etc.
