Every child I know adores opening that little door /slip of paper/surprise each day in December! If you haven’t made or bought your advent calendar yet, you may like the idea of this one.
This year I thought I’d make one that had some short, easy to remember memory verses for my children to learn, as we have been focusing on memory verses recently, and I thought this a sweet way to incorporate it into the festive season!
Make A Memory Verse Advent Calendar
Crafts you’ll need:
- Scrapbook paper
- Prestik/ glue
- String
- 25 memory verses, printed (You can download our set of 28 Memory Verses For Kids)
- Paper clips
- Scissors
- Beads
To make it:
Firstly, trace some heart shapes onto crafty paper, and print out/write out some memory verses. (You can download our set of 28 Memory Verses For Kids)
Next, roll up your memory verse cards & wrap an elastic band around each one. Then paperclip them to the back of your hearts.
Your kids can help with putting beads on the string inbetween cards; just hook the cards onto the string beneath the paper clip. They hang on tightly.
My children spent the entire afternoon helping make these, and with great delight! You can get creative with the type of paper you use, as well as what kind of beads. Each day, from Dec 1, they get to take off the memory verse and we read it as a family over breakfast. You can recap the previous memory verses each morning, and prestik them up on a page nearby for easy reference.
Happy festive season crafting! 🙂
