Kids love all things insect related, don’t they?
Insects are colorful, interesting, and can keep kids entertained for hours, so why not keep the fun going with these easy pipe cleaner insects? You only need pipe cleaners and a few other supplies to get started, and when you are done you will have your own little cute and creepy crawlers!
Here is how to get started making pipe cleaner insects of your own!
Fun Spring Insect Craft For Kids
To make you will need:
For this craft, we made to different types of bugs: a grasshopper and a snail. Just think of how creative you could get and all the different varieties you could make!
To make the snail, take two different colored pipe cleaners and twist them together.
Take the twisted pipe cleaners and roll them into a round swirl as shown.
Take your hot glue gun, and glue the swirl to the top of a clothespin so it looks like the shell of a snail.
Finish by gluing a pair of googly eyes to the end of the pipe cleaner where the head of the snail would be. You can also add two small lengths for antenna if you wish.

To make the grasshopper, cut out 3 small lengths of pipe cleaner than can be bent into six legs. You can also cut out a piece for the head and antennae.
Assemble the grasshopper by opening the clothespin and gluing the three pieces to the inside. Bend them over the sides so it looks like 6 legs.
Add some glue to the length you will using for your antenna. Apply it to the top of the clothespin.
Finish your grasshopper by gluing the pair of googly eyes in place.
