Once your little ones master the A-B-Cs, the next step is beginning sounds. These printables are the perfect way to help your children practice the beginning sounds of each letter of the alphabet.
Missing Letters For Beginning Sounds
Learning and strengthening beginning sound skills is more than just a is for apple and b is for ball. Those are a great start, but there is more to it than that. These worksheets can help your children strengthen the skills that are necessary to continue the process of learning how to read and write.
Here’s another great Beginning Sounds Activity: Truck Themed Beginning Sounds
There are three pages total of this set. Each page has a certain set of letters that it focuses on. For instance, the first page is A-H then I-P is the second page and the third is Q-Z.
Each page has two columns, half the letters in one column and the other half in the second. The column includes a picture (like an apple) and then the word spelled out, without the beginning letter. At the bottom of each column is a block with the letters that it could be.

How To Prep & Use
There are a few options when it comes to prep.
If you want to use this activity only once, you can just print and go. Children can write the answers on the blank. They could also use scissors and glue and cut the letters then glue them in the correct place.
Materials For Single Use:
For using this beginning sound set over and over, you can laminate it and use with a dry erase marker. If you don’t have a laminator, you can use dry erase pockets. Then you can use these sheets over and over again.
Materials For Multi-Use:
Children will love this activity. It is simple enough that they won’t get frustrated, but challenging enough that it will help them strengthen beginning sound skills.
