Finding new and inventive ways to keep interest when practicing math (cause practice makes perfect 😉 ) can be a challenge sometimes! Using themed items such as ladybugs, rainbows etc can bring a new learning dimension altogether.
Today I have a lovely ladybug theme that covers numbers 1 to 20. The cards themselves can break into 3 sections for the more advanced learner or just 2 if you are in the middle or simple one for a beginner.
Use the one card approach as a flash card or simply a counting exercise.
Use the 2 card method (as pictured) as a match the numbers of lady bugs to the correct numbers.
Use the 3 card idea for advanced learners using the name and number of the number as separate cards.
You can also use the lower number / word combinations in conjunction with the zero flower card with manipulatives. This adds in a fine motor aspect for the child and a physical item to count.
Another idea is to use buttons on the cards that include the ladybugs to cover the ladybugs as they are counted.
This set is for 1-20 numbers and the 11-20 set include 2 flowers. One with 10 and the other with the corresponding 1-10 number.
