My quest to sew some fabric blocks out of old clothing!
I had some lovely clothing for my little girl and really wanted to make something special out of them. Just before Christmas I decided to make some blocks with ribbons sticking out for her to feel and add her name on them as well, so that when she out grows playing with them they are be decor in her room.
Well at least until she becomes a teen and everything must go type thing! (I really hope not!)
I started by selecting some complementary colors, which isn’t hard to do if everything is pink! I really love the feel of the denim for the blocks.
I was also careful for the decor on one or two of the shirts. I really love the look of this bunny and wanted it to be featured on one of the sides, so made sure it was centered when I cut the blocks out.
I cut the squares out in 5 inch by 5 inch squares as suggested by Sew like my mom’s awesome Baby Blocks Tutorial. My blocks have the addition of ribbon.
Once I had planned the layout of all the blocks I set out on a sewing mission.
The 9 blocks were finished just in time for Christmas and made a memorable picture for my little girls first Christmas present and picture with her name displayed.
