Nicolette had a bunch of very light, brightly colored scarves that were perfect for this activity. Most of the scarves I own are bigger and heavier, so I will be keeping my eyes open for light, inexpensive, smaller scarves, as I’ve always wanted to have a little scarf basket like this one for the kids!
This is so great for just sitting on the floor and playing, with other moms and other kids as well. Part of what’s fun with these is the interaction, so enjoy it with your toddler, relax and get silly!
Materials:
- Silk like scarves or similar
- Optional basket
Place scarves into the basket or simply in a pile on the floor. Invite your child to feel and explore the scarves. Rub their skin to feel the silky texture, throw it up in the air and watch it float down.
Some children will lay on the floor and cover themselves in it while others enjoy the visual input from looking through the different color materials.
This idea isn’t JUST for 1 year olds!
There are 40 more activities in the book and ALL include an activity variation AND “As They Grow” section, making this a Grow-With-Them book.
Activities are suited to 1, 2, 3 and even 4 year olds!
You’ll really get your money’s worth!
