Some times things are so simple for play that we over look them.
I have had these play mat squares for some time and have buildt them into boxes a few times already with them getting deconstructed within minutes by the kids. For some reason today was different.
My 3 year old got distracted by this younger brother walking by with an armful of balls. I can just imagine the light bulb appearing over his head.
Next thing I know he is gathering the balls that my 2 year old had thrown all over the floor and was sticking them into the box via the missing number one slot. This time I had the light bulb! I grabbed the little plastic shopping basket so he could collect the balls (score for clean up).
Then to the box we went. After a few he decided he could also roll the large balls from the smaller side of the one to where it fell in at the bigger end.
The balls got picked up from all over the play area and he was occupied for 20 – 30 minutes with this activity.
(We have Fun Ballz and similar to Alphabet and Number Floor Mat.)
