Learn to skip count with the help of lego! Great math tool for preschoolers and kindergarten.
LEGO® is a favorite of my son, he builds all sorts of things with it. One of my motto’s is to use what your child loves to teach with. So for my LEGO® loving son we did some math using these tiny 1×1 bricks.
For this activity you will need
- some small clear plastic cups
- dry erase pen
- many little 1×1 bricks
Decide on which skip counting multiples you are going to use. 2 and 5 are always the first to get picked up. Write these numbers on your cups.
Next stack the 1×1 bricks in the multiples chosen. Below we have multiples of 2.
Do the same for your other multiples, below is a stack of 5 pictured.
It took a few tries for my son to get this new to him concept and I defiantly think that using his love of LEGO® helped!
Here is yet another shot of the counting cups.
I would love for you to join me in the new Learning with LEGO facebook group! Also my new book Learning with LEGO® is out in 2 weeks! We are all super excited about it! You can grab any discounts and bonuses here.

I love how visual this is and so inexpensive too. I have some counting cubes that I’m sure will fit easily into these cups!
