Harvey enjoyed chewing on both the straws and the bottle! Getting him to do this activity required a little bit of coaching from me up front, but then he got into it.
He liked putting them in, shaking them out and the noise that they made. It was also moderately challenging for him at first and he had to concentrate and pay attention to his finger work.
Great fine motor practice. He and Nicolette’s youngest also had a fun little noise-making shakefest.
- Spice bottle with largish holes
Clean out your spice bottle and remove the label. Cut the straws into sizes that fit into the spice bottle.
Spread out the straws and show your child how the straws fit into the spice bottle through the holes.
I could finally put to use one of those old spice bottles I’ve been saving! It’s a tiny self contained game great for on the go, and you don’t have to worry much about losing it. I love taking it out when I go somewhere with the kids and need to keep them calm.
This idea isn’t JUST for 1 year olds!
There are 40 more activities in the book and ALL include an activity variation AND “As They Grow” section, making this a Grow-With-Them book.
Activities are suited to 1, 2, 3 and even 4 year olds!
You’ll really get your money’s worth!
