The apple picking page in our quiet book has to be the most popular one between all the kids! This is page 7!
How to make this quiet book page
This page is rather simple to make.
You will need some brown felt for the basket as well as the tree trunk and green felt for the grass and tree leaves. Some red felt for the apples and a bunch of small cut velcro pairs for the apples to be stuck to the tree.
Cut your brown felt into a half circle for the basket and a matching handle. Also cut 2 strips for the branches and trunk of the tree.
Cut the green leaves for the top of the tree as well as the grass below.
Cut the red felt into apple shapes, mine are looking more like kidney beans but the kids really don’t care because they look like apples to them!
Line up all the items on the page to make sure you have the correct setup. Hot glue your tree together first then add the grass.
On the opposite page add glue to the outer edge of the basket and make a little space so that the kids can dig into it. You do not want this basket to lay flat. Attach the handle.
Next hot glue your velcro pairs to the apples. VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure that all the velcro is the same way up. Glue the hook side to the tree and the fuzzy side to the apple.
There you have it! Your apple picking quiet book page is ready. We counted these apples, had them fall from the tree on to the ground, picked them up and put them into the basket then grew new ones by replacing them on the tree.
This quiet book page is especially a great fine motor activity for my toddler.
The book can be called a busy book or a toddler quiet book either way it is a hit with all 3 of my kids!

Looks so neat! I’m excited to try this 🙂 I’ve not worked with felt very much, but I thought it sort of stuck to itself – is the velcro really necessary? Would it still work well enough without? — I’ve not had pleasant experiences with velcro 🙁

felt does stick to itself but not well enough for a book like this. If you are happy to store those apples away in the little basket I think it would work!
