Pregnant women hate having to stop taking their morning tea or coffee due to the effects of caffeine on the unborn child.
However, there are other kinds of tea that are not only considered safe, but also beneficial to women during pregnancy.
With so many options of pregnancy tea, you can still have a lovely warm cuppa and be content to know your baby is getting good and beneficial ingredients to build their little bodies!
These herbal teas help reduce some of the uncomfortable side effects of pregnancy such as gassiness, nausea and vomiting.
Below are some of the more common herbal teas used to help maintain optimal health during pregnancy via a pregnancy tea.
Peppermint tea
This tea helps pregnant women cope with morning sickness during the first trimester. It also reduces puffiness.
Red raspberry leaf tea
This tea has been enjoyed by pregnant women for a long time. Red raspberry tea is recommended by many doctors because it contains high amounts of iron, which offers numerous benefits to the health of a pregnant woman. There have been suggestions that red raspberry also helps strengthen the uterus and prepare it delivery and labor; it also helps alleviate nausea and vomiting.
Ginger root tea.
Ginger has been used to relieve morning sickness for many generations. It is therefore no surprise that pregnant women are routinely advised to take ginger based beverages and snacks. These include ginger ale beverages, ginger cookies and most common of all, ginger tea. Ginger root tea can be quite delicious especially when sweetened using honey.
Lemon balm tea
Pregnant women are advised to consume this tea in order to benefit from the calming effect it has on the senses. It is routinely used to relieve mood swings like anxiety and irritability that many women experience when pregnant. Sometimes, this tea can be taken to help pregnant women sleep. Chamomile tea also has similar effects.
Since herbal teas are usually caffeine free, this should never been an issue when choosing which tea to take. It is however advisable to only take those whose effects on the developing fetus have been well researched.
