Kids love getting creative with science. This easy balloon science experiment for kids is a fun way for kids to learn about chemical reactions while they watch their very own balloon take shape. Science Experiment Using Balloons
Here is what you will need for this experiment:
an empty soda bottle or any bottle with a neck
a balloon, deflated
vinegar
baking soda
spoon
funnel
safety glasses
Begin by filling the bottle of your choice about ¼ of the way full with vinegar.
Now, take the deflated balloon and pour 1 tablespoon of baking soda inside of it. This is where the funnel may come in handy. Use your fingers to move all of the baking soda to the bottom of the balloon where it will rest.

Take the mouth of the balloon and stretch it over the top of the bottle but do not dump out the contents yet.
Once the balloon is securely in place, tip the rest of the inside contents into the bottle.
As the baking soda pours into the bottle, it will meet with the vinegar and form a chemical reaction. It will create gas, causing the balloon to inflate! This is where your safety goggles come in handy. Be sure you are protecting your eyes in case the balloon pops.
You can then remove the inflated balloon and tie it up so the kids can play with it. Or, you can drain the contents and try the experiment all over again!
