This one was interesting as it took Harvey quite a while to get around to actually doing the activity. First he took a fish and ran around outside with it and so did Nicolette’s kids. They wanted to play with the fish. This was ok, because Nicolette had laminated it, which I highly recommend.
But then when he did get interested, the other kids wouldn’t let him have the fishing pole as they were enjoying it too much! Then we played a few variations. Finally, Harvey did the activity as intended. He really had to concentrate and experiment with it a bit, but was quite successful and happy about it.
- Printable fish (www.powerfulmothering.com/ideas1/)
- Magnetic pole
Print put the fish on cardstock and cut them out. Use a punch to make holes and attach the paper clips to the fish.
Place the fish on your floor / carpet and let the fishing begin! This activity greatly increases hand eye co-ordination.
This is a great family game that all the children loved.
This idea isn’t JUST for 1 year olds!
